Whut Up?!!

Yeah its been a minute...again. I have a few things to report then its back to the drawingboard. Let's see... The pencils for OneNation issue1 are DONE SON! and it's about halfway colored. Luis is doing a kick-ass job too. Working on the second draft of issue2, that's shaping up well.

I was offered another comic with my Austrailian buddies Inception Strategies. This will be my 4th book with them! They gave me a raise and a title too, "Senior Technical Illustrator", that's gonna make the old resume' sing right?

Um...took a trip back home(New Orleans) and had a bast with family and friends. Oh yea, GOT MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The little woman and I are pretty excited about that one, Diddy couldn't have thrown a beter reception! danced my first "2nd line" it was pretty damned cool.

Haven't Been able to do any work in like a month but here's a little piece we were holding back on ya. A young padawan learning from his Praying Mantis Master.

Charlie: Nah, we're just a couple oil men in from Dallas and well, heh, we're ah itching like a hound to give you ah somethin' you want.
Dennis: Heh, what my associate is trying to say is that we're here to offer your community a much needed service...

I've been here in the lab finishing up another Inception Strageties comic and pondering my various projcts. The good news...OneNation is moving along awesomelike! Just got the 1st. issue cover back from Luis and it is the sh-t. Pgs. are being drawn and colored with the quickness! Just sent off a few submission packs too(pray,chant, and cross your fingers fo' ya boy).
Dreadlocks is about 10pgs. from finish,and have been discussing a couple post comicon projcts. and oh yeah, COMICON! I'll be there chilin'.
Bad news...since Onenation is becoming the junk, I gotta focus on the main comic so the webcomic is being pushed back as well as the Cubbs webcomic. No sweat though, once I get OneNation working all well oiledlike I'll have time to focus on the others.

So for me its vacay time kiddos but in the words of Drake/Drizzy Rida..."u know what it is when I finally make it home,I just hope that miss me a little when I'm gone"

Man it’s been awhile...

I can't wait for the New Year. I had a blessed 2009. It was pretty much recession proof even though I illustrate full time:0, Proposed, vacationed more than once, it was pretty awesome. But man, I can't wait to see what the next year will bring! I mean I have a couple ideas, a couple plans but you know what they say: while we make plans GOD laughs. I can't wait to see what's put in front of me.

Speaking of...

I've been in the lab hard trying to make sure I'm ready for the New Year with some fresh content. I'm 8pgs. in on "One Nation". Found a colorist to work with. Issues 1-3 are written and the first issue cover has been decided on, drawn and waiting to be colored. Also a new pitch is being written as we speak.

Been reworking my website to become the main hub for my new comics. Specifically, One Nation and Cubbs. I'll still have my illustration work up, but there will be special pages for each new property or idea as well.

"Cubbs" is being reworked for a launch on the site, yeah I'm talkin' webcomics ya’ll. A trailer is in the works...fully animated! So I'm excited for that.

Started doing concept design and laying out pages for a new (jeez J. another one?!) project called “Janos”. It’s the brainchild of my good friend Shane Nitzsche. Its big, high concept, and awesome, you gotta watch out for this one.

Working on a new comic with Inception Strategies, while my second with them is being colored and lettered at the moment.

Still bangin' out pages of "Dreadlocks". Gonna finish that this year too.

Gonna try to hit more conventions this year too.

So look for me it’s gonna be a great year.

ok. so I'm late again with the weekly post...I'm just shitty at posting but I'm trying Also ALOT of my stuff is NDA stuff so its hard sometimes to get around that(I rarely do work for myself but I'm trying to remedy that as well). So enpugh excuses. A few things...I submitted a comic to Zuda comics. More details to come on that. And the storyboards from Dreadlocks are done so I'll post those when I can. Test pgs. These are a few test pgs I did for Zenescope didn't get the job but I think they came out pretty good. Later.

no posts in awhils and that sucks. I'll try to be better. my goal is to post something significant at least once a week. been kinda down b/c of the slow work situation. which is weird b/c I'm still makin' pictures daily, just no money involved yet and of course a-holes who won't pay what they owe. I'm certainly workin' from a contract stand point now. from now on hov is all about his paper. anyways,I thought I'd post up some stuff. so,they're making a 2-minute short for "Dreadlocks" and I get to board it out. A little on the job learnin' storyboard wise.

This is a "test sample" from a freelance job I applied for recently. The task was to re-color the animation frame and make it more bright/comicbook style. As I understand they are going to use these to make a boxing game. One on the left is the origianal and right is my redo. What'd ya think, good job? Anyway, I hope I get the job.

...or they should be. Robert Kirkman spoke out on a couple things I and people like me have been saying for sometime now, and I think he's right on the mark. In essence comics are doing great now but we definitly shouldn't rest on our heels. We want to build on this foundation so comics lives on into the future.

Like the gaming industry(which was also a "nerd" thing back in the day) we need to parlay this new mainstream interest into something we can hold onto. Run comics like a business and less like dudes living in our mom's basements. The japanese sell millions as far as comics go while we here barley break the 100k mark. Something to think about...

Back from the con and knee deep in Marvel Masterpiece sketch cards!

I must say I had a kick-ass time in San Diego. Made plenty of contacts and a few new friends. I hope to see some results for all my schmoosing soon. Shout out to the Pillgroup, who made my trip the best yet! Love you guys...anyways here's some art.

I've been working on some comission stuff for UrbanStyle Comics. The character is named Sachiko, a she-samurai who fights to save a not-so-distant future. I was asked to update her design and ended up doing the cover to the first issue! turnarounds and the cover to "Sachiko"#1.

So, I haven't blogged(conventionally anyway) in months but I kinda wanted to start up again. Just so happens its right before San Diego Comicon, which I'll be attending for the fourth year. i can't wait to touch ground in San Diego, hopefully it'll be a great and prosperous convention. I definitly plan to hit it real hard and drudge up tons of work. Anyway on to the post...This is a w.i.p for a 3 pg. comic style soda add. For one of Urbanstyle Ent.'s (I guess) flagship characters "Sachiko". She's this futuristic she-samurai so of course her sworn enemy is the ninja! I like to call these guys "the Lesser Devils".
